Report: Spurs among eight clubs interested in striker with 19 goals in 31 games this season

Tottenham are among a whole host of European clubs interested in signing Monaco striker, Wissam Ben Yedder, according to the latest reports in France.

Ben Yedder certainly knows where the back of the net is having consistently scored goals everywhere he has played throughout his career (Wikipedia).

The 29-year-old decided to move to Monaco last summer following three prolific seasons with Sevilla and has continued to bang in the goals for the Ligue 1 side, netting 19 times in 31 games since returning to France (transfermarkt.com).

A report in L’Equipe (as relayed by Be Soccer) claims that the striker’s goalscoring record is attracting the interest from a whole host of clubs, including Spurs.

Apart from Tottenham, the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal, are all said to be tracking Ben Yedder.

The report suggests that Monaco will have to sell the striker in the summer in order to cope with their financial troubles resulting from the coronavirus shutdown. It is claimed they will demand €45 million for the striker’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ben Yedder guarantees goals but he doesn’t offer too much apart from that. He reminds me a lot of Defoe owing to his sharpness around the box, his low centre of gravity, and his expert finishing ability with both feet. However, he certainly doesn’t strike me as a Mourinho-type striker. I believe we are likely to go for a centre forward who can do a job similar to the one Llorente did for us previously.
