Report: Spurs among four clubs watching midfielder’s situation ahead of January

CaclioMeracto have revealed that Tottenham are one of four clubs currently observing the situation of Nahitan Nandez, who could leave Cagliari in January.

Nandez was linked with a move to Spurs during the summer transfer window, with reports stating at the time that the Uruguay international had put in a transfer request to complete a move to the Lilywhites.

However, the 25-year-old ended up staying put at Cagliari, with Tottenham allegedly finding the Serie A club’s €30m (£25.7m) asking price for the midfielder to be too excessive.

Spurs have been backed to reignite their interest in Nandez in January while the midfielder’s agent Pablo Bentacur has admitted the Cagliari president promised to sell his client when the transfer window opens next month.

CalcioMercato have now revealed that Spurs, along with Napoli, Inter Milan and Leeds United are watching Nandez’s situation.

The report claims that Cagliari could cash in on the midfielder in order to raise funds to pursue their transfer targets next month.

It is stated that while Nandez’s release clause stands at €36m (£30.5m), the Serie A cub might be preferred to accept a lower fee for him.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Conte plans on persisting with a 3-4-3, we certainly need one more midfield player in January.

As things stand, the Italian only has three players for the two midfield roles in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks.

I do not get the feeling that he trusts the likes of Dele, Ndombele or Lo Celso to play as one of the two holding midfielders.
