Report: Spurs among four PL clubs interested in Portuguese international

Record have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha in the summer.

Tottenham were linked with a move for Palhinha during last summer’s transfer window, with the North London club reportedly seeing their loan offer for the midfielder turned down (Daily Star).

Spurs seemingly did not reignite their interest in the 26-year-old during the January transfer window after the player put pen to paper on a new contract with Sporting in December (TransferMarketWeb).

Record now claim that Spurs are one of four Premier League clubs eyeing a potential summer move for Palhinha, with Manchester United, Newcastle and Wolves also showing interest in the Portugal international.

The report adds that the Sporting star is also on the radar of Real Madrid, who are looking to reinforce their central midfield ranks.

However, it is stated that the contract that Palhinha signed with Sporting in December has a release clause of around €60m (£50.1m).

Spurs Web Opinion

In Skipp, Bentancur, Winks and Hojbjerg, we are pretty well stocked when it comes to central midfielders. I believe that signing a number 8 like Franck Kessie would likely be a bigger priority for Conte in the summer, with Ndombele and Lo Celso potentially on their way out on a permanent basis.
