Report: Spurs among long list of clubs to have scouted Spanish pair

According to Super Deporte, Tottenham Hotspur were one of a long list of clubs across Europe, who sent scouts to watch Valencia duo Jesus Vazquez and Cristhian Mosquera in action for Spain Under-19’s against Austria.

Winger Vazquez, who can also play as a left-back, has featured 10 times for Valencia this season (Transfermarkt) while Mosquera, an imposing central defender, has made five senior appearances for Los Che (Transfermarkt).

The duo, who came through the ranks at the Mestalla, are very highly rated and are among the pillars of Spain’s Under-19 side.

The pair completed ninety minutes against Austria last week as the game finished in a 2-2 draw, with both players impressing in the encounter.

Super Deporte reveal that representatives from as many as 18 clubs were in attendance to run the rule over Vazquez and Mosquera.

Apart from Spurs, scouts from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus, Milan, Atalanta, PSG, Dortmund, Ajax, PSV, Vitesse, AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord were said to have been present at the game.

However, the report adds that Valencia are calm about the futures of Vazquez and Mosquera, with both players being contracted to the club until 2025.

Spurs Web Opinion

Paratici’s network of scouts will likely be studying many young prospects from across Europe ahead of the summer. The Italian will likely continue with the policy of trying to snap up and coming talents, as that is arguably Tottenham’s best shot of closing the gap with the likes of City, Liverpool and Chelsea, given that the North Londoners do not have the same sort of pull or financial muscle at the moment.
