Report: Spurs among ‘strongest rivals’ for 22-year-old attacking midfielder

Speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur with Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus is intensifying as the youngster prepares to show what he can do for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.

The 22-year-old has impressed for Dutch side Ajax this season, with ten goals and two assists in 21 games this term (Transfermarkt).

It’s now expected that the talented youngster could shine during the World Cup. With plenty of eyes on the tournament, Kudus is believed to be one of the hottest properties in Qatar, and could well see more attention heading his way if he impresses on the big stage.

Kudus has taken to international football with ease, bagging five goals in his first 18 caps for his country (Transfermarkt).

Last week, it was suggested that Tottenham Hotspur will be keeping tabs on Kudus at the World Cup (Corriere dello Sport – via Sport Witness 18/11/22). It appears Spurs are not the only ones, though.

Corriere dello Sport has once again been focusing on the youngster, and there’s a long list of top European clubs who may be ready to fight it out for the signature of Kudus should he “explode” at the World Cup.

According to the report, Spurs will face competition from Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and AC Milan. A price tag of €15 million (£13m) is unlikely to deter any of those clubs, but it is suggested that Spurs are the “strongest rivals” for his services, along with Dortmund.

The outlet suggests clubs may be wary of that valuation increasing significantly if Kudus puts in some good performances at the World Cup, and it’s expected they will all be watching very closely.

Spurs Web Opinion

When it was reported last week that Spurs were looking at Mohammed Kudus, I suggested we should be wary of buying into the hype based on his stats in the Eredivisie, and in many ways the same applies to the World Cup. We’ve seen plenty of players have great tournaments in the past and then do nothing once they get snapped up, but hopefully, if this lad is the real deal, we can bring him in.
