Report: Spurs among three clubs who have enquired about 21-year-old striker

According to a report in TSN, Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs to have made inquiries about the availability of Lille striker Jonathan David.

David moved to Lille in the summer of 2020 on the back of two prolific seasons for Gent and the striker has continued finding the back of the net with regularity in France.

The 21-year-old is currently sitting joint top in the race for this season’s Ligue 1 golden boot alongside Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder, with 12 strikes to his name so far (BBC).

In addition, the Canadian international also netted on three occasions in the group stages of the Champions League (TransferMarkt).

Tottenham have held a long-term interest in the striker, with the North London club reportedly sending scouts to watch him on multiple occasions during his Gent days (Het Laatste Nieuws).

TSN have now revealed that Spurs, Chelsea and Barcelona have all expressed an interest in signing David.

The report claims that the striker is not looking to leave Lille this month but a transfer in the summer is ‘increasingly likely’.

TSN also state that David has not narrowed down his list of preferred destinations and remains open to all possibilities.

Spurs Web Opinion

David looks like a top talent and at just 21 years of age, he has plenty of time to improve.

However, scoring with regularity in Belgium and France is no guarantee of success in the Premier League.

There is also a question mark on whether he would want to join Spurs, knowing that he would likely have to play second fiddle to Kane.
