Report: Spurs and Arsenal are the most interested in signing 20-year-old star

According to the print edition of La Vanguardia (08/02/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) Tottenham Hotspur could battle Arsenal for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati in the summer.

Fati has largely been relegated to a bit-part role under Xavi Hernández this season, coming on as a substitute for the vast majority of his 20 league appearances across 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).

Mundo Deportivo revealed earlier this week that the 20-year-old’s lack of game time at Camp Nou, has caught the attention of several European clubs, including Spurs.

The report suggested that Bayern Munich are at the front of the queue for Fati’s signature, stating that the Bavarians are the ones who have asked about him ‘the most’ so far.

However, La Vanguardia have now named the two North London clubs as the ones most interested in the Barcelona star. The publication states that neither Tottenham nor Arsenal have made a firm offer, they are both ‘considering bettering’ on Fati.

It is asserted that the attacker’s current predicament at Barca ‘leaves the door open’ for a summer departure.

If Fati does not force himself into Barca’s starting eleven over the next few months, I would expect the Catalan club to cash in on the youngster in the summer, given their financial situation.

However, there will likely be a whole host of clubs interested in the 20-year-old and it remains to be seen if Tottenham would want to get involved in a bidding war.
