Report: Spurs and Arsenal could battle it out for Premier League striker

The Sun have claimed that Newcastle United are braced for offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for their star striker Alexander Isak.

Isak has gone from strength to strength since arriving at St James’ Park in 2022, with the skilful forward having become a fan favourite in the North East.

Despite his injury issues, the Sweden international has continued finding the back of the net with regularity when he has featured, having scored 18 goals across all competitions so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Spurs and Arsenal both like Alexander Isak

The Sun say that while Eddie Howe wants to keep hold of Isak and has been publicly adamant that the striker is not for sale, the player’s future remains up in the air.

This is because Newcastle remain in a perilous position with respect to FFP and would need to cash in on some of their players if they finish outside the European places.

As a result, it is alleged that a huge offer for Isak from a Champions League side would be hard for the Magpies to ignore.

The publication adds that Arsenal are already plotting a move for the £100m-rated forward while Spurs are also keeping tabs on him along with Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Isak is a supremely talented striker and he would be exceptional in Ange Postecoglou’s system but he would be out of Tottenham’s reach unless the club decide to cash in on Richarlison. Toney would be a more realistic target for the Lilywhites, given his contract situation.
