Report: Spurs and Arsenal could compete for 62-year-old manager

According to a report in Football Italia, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal may be set to go head to head for Maurizio Sarri, with both clubs showing interest in the Italian.

Several names have been mentioned over the past couple of weeks as potential candidates to replace Jose Mourinho at Spurs.

Football.London Alasdair Gold revealed on Thursday what he has heard from his sources regarding the various coaches being linked with the Spurs hot seat.

The journalist claimed that Sarri does not fit the profile of head coach Spurs are looking for and that the Italian is not in the running for the job.

However, Football Italia have now claimed that the 62-year-old is of interest to Spurs and that the club made contact with the former Chelsea boss shortly after the announcement of Mourinho’s sacking.

The report adds that Sarri is also on Arsenal’s radar, with the Gunners on the lookout for a replacement for Mikel Arteta, who could be set to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Sarri would be preferable to the likes of Allegri and Benitez, the former Chelsea boss is not really a choice that fills me with excitement. I would rather take a punt on someone relatively untested like Potter than go for Sarri, whose shortcomings were clear for all to see during his time at Chelsea and Juve.
