Report: Spurs and Arsenal now front-runners for La Liga defender

Spanish publication Sport have installed Tottenham and Arsenal as the two front-runners for the signature of Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet this summer.

Tottenham are expected to be in the market for multiple central defenders this summer and, if reports over recent days are to be believed, Fabio Paratici is already in talks with Sevilla and Bologna over Jules Kounde and Takehiro Tomiyasu respectively.

Sport have now claimed that Lengelet has also emerged as a target for the North London club.

The French international has been a consistent feature of the Barca backline since moving to the Nou Camp from Sevilla back in 2018.

Sport suggest that the central defender is one of the players the Catalan giants are looking to cash in on along with the likes of Sergino Dest and Samuel Umtiti.

The report adds that Spurs and Arsenal are competing for the 26-year-old, with Barcelona hoping for offers to arrive in the next few days.

Barcelona need to cut their wage bill considerably owing to their financial issues and so, there could be some bargain deals to be had from the Catalan club this summer.

Given that Spurs do not have much money to throw around, it might be worth submitting loan offers for the likes of Pjanic and Lenglet this summer.
