Journalist claims that Spurs and Arsenal are set to battle it out for £40m-rated winger

Tottenham Hotspur have reignited their interest in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a Transfermarkt journalist.

TransferMarkt currently believe that the Premier League attacker has a market value of £40m.

Zaha has established himself as one of the most skillful wingers in the Premier League over recent seasons and is often linked with a move away from Selhurst Park.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in the Ivory Coast international in the past (Evening Standard) but a move has not materialised for the former Manchester United wide man.

Jermaine Jenas recently claimed that the 27-year-old had made a mistake by signing a bumper contract with Palace in 2018 as it has allowed the Eagles to price their star player out of a move (BBC Sport).

Transfermarkt now claim that Zaha is keen to leave the club this summer and take on a new challenge.

It is said that both Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in securing the Palace star’s signature.

However, Zaha is said to prefer a move to Arsenal over Jose Mourinho’s side, with his agent already said to be in contact with the Gunners.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see why Zaha would want to go to Arsenal over Tottenham as he is much more likely to become the main man at Mikel Arteta’s side. The jury is out on whether he will even start at Spurs with Son Heung-min, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura already at the club. I believe the money could be put to better use given that we are much weaker in other areas of the pitch.
