Report: Spurs and Arsenal to go head to head for promising Everton defender

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Tottenham and Arsenal are both interested in signing Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny, who is currently on loan at Schalke.

The full-back has impressed for the Bundesliga side this campaign and has been one of their most consistent performers as they push for Champions League qualification.

It appears Kenny’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed back in England with both Spurs and Arsenal now said to be keen on signing him permanently.

Tottenham have had problems at right-back due to Serge Aurier’s inconsistent performances and with Mourinho seemingly unwilling to trust Kyle Walker-Peters.

The Daily Express claim that Everton could be open to letting Kenny go after Djibril Sidibe’s impressive recent form, which might convince the Merseyside club to sign the French international on a permanent basis.

It is suggested that Arsenal are also extremely keen on adding a right-back to their squad this month and the two North London clubs could thus go head to head for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Right-back is a huge issue at the moment as Aurier has failed to make the spot his own despite putting in some promising displays. I was hoping the club would bring in a young right back with a promising future like Youcef Atal or Max Aarons. Jonjoe Kenny certainly fits that profile and would be a good move for Spurs to make.
