Report: Spurs and Chelsea are joined by five clubs in race for young striker

The Daily Mail have revealed that Chelsea are now set to challenge Tottenham Hotspur for Gambian wunderkind Adama Bojang.

Bojang has been prolific for his club, Steve Biko FC this season and the striker turned a lot of heads with his showing at the South Africa Under-20 Nations Cup, which was held earlier this year.

It was The Mail that first reported at the start of April that the 18-year-old’s displays in the competition have alerted several European clubs, including Spurs.

The same publication has now suggested that Chelsea are set to step up their interest in the centre-forward following his explosive start to the FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.

The 18-year-old scored twice in Gambia’s 2-1 win over Honduras on Monday, with the performance allegedly thought to have left the Blues scouts impressed.

The report reveals that apart from Spurs and Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Sporting Lisbon, Inter Milan and Red Bull Salzburg also have their eye on Bojang.

The publication suggests that English clubs would struggle to get a work permit for the striker if they sign him, which is why they might have to loan him out.

Bojang certainly appears a cut above the other players in his age group across the world and it looks quite likely that he will seal a move to a Europen club this summer.

Tottenham would have their work cut out in convincing the teenager to join the club as he will have no shortage of offers.
