Report: Spurs and Chelsea could go head-to-head for German international

Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger has revealed that Tottenham and Chelsea both hold an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Jonas Hofmann.

Hofman has been an important player for Gladbach since arriving at the club in 2016 but injury problems restricted him to just 24 league appearances this season.

The versatile German, who is capable of playing in either flank or down the middle, still showed his quality, scoring six goals and picking up eleven assists in the Bundesliga.

The 28-year-old has seemingly been on the North Londoners’ radar for a long time, with Bild reporting two and a half years ago that Spurs were eyeing a move for him.

If Berger is to be believed, Tottenham could be set to rekindle their interest in Hofmann this summer, while Chelsea could also make an offer.

The journalist revealed that the German international is open to leaving Borussia Park and that he could be available for around €15m (£12.8m).
