Report: Spurs and Conte line up Jordan Pickford as potential Lloris replacement

The Telegraph have reported that Tottenham and Antonio Conte are looking at Everton and England number one, Jordan Pickford, as a potential successor to Hugo Lloris.

The report claims that, with Tottenham’s homegrown situation as it is, Conte is keen on investing in an English shot-stopper, naturally eyeing up the one Gareth Southgate deems to be the best in the country.

Hugo Lloris has been a loyal servant for the Lilywhites, currently playing his tenth season with the club after signing from Lyon back in 2021.

However, the Frenchman’s contract is up in the summer and there have been no definitive reports of Lloris signing a new deal as of yet. Although, the man himself did hint at contract talks in the near future this week.

If the Telegraph is to be believed, Conte is eyeing up Pickford as a candidate for Lloris’ successor in North London.

The Italian head coach apparently wants a homegrown keeper to either compete with Lloris next season or establish himself as the new number one, although Pickford is only one in a list of candidates.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is one of the worst reports I have seen in a while. Number one, I fully expect Lloris to sign a new two-year contract. Number two, Pickford would cost a lot of money when Everton paid so much for him. And three, there are better alternatives out there.
