Report: Spurs and England man wanted by West Ham amidst contract uncertainty

The Daily Star have now reported that West Ham United are interested in signing Eric Dier from Tottenham amidst contract uncertainty (Daily Star – Back Page – 12/04/20).

With Dier being out of contract at the end of next season, the Hammers are said to be closely watching the situation unfold.

Despite being bitter rivals of the Lilywhites, West Ham believe there is a chance of a cut-price deal if Dier fails to sign a new contract in North London.

After being put in difficult situations with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, and Toby Alderweireld of late, Spurs may be tempted to cash in on Dier rather than potentially losing him for nothing.

This comes after the Daily Star also recently reported that Dier wanted guarantees that he would be treated as a central defender rather than a midfielder before he signed a new Spurs deal.

Dier has played for Tottenham a total of 235 times, as well as 40 caps for England, captaining both sides at one point in his career (Wikipedia).
