Report: Spurs and Lazio set to compete for striker’s signature

The speculation linking Tottenham with a move for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi continues to grow.

The Albanian international has enjoyed a prolific season for the Turkish giants and reports coming out of the country suggest that an offer from Spurs for the striker could be on the cards.

The 25-year-old was said to be on Tottenham’s radar during the January transfer window (Aksam) with Fanatnik backing the Lilywhites to return for his signature in the summer.

The same publication reported on Wednesday that Spurs have tabled their first offer of around €25million for Muriqi and suggested that Lazio, could attempt to match North London club’s offer.

However, Sabah (as relayed by Sport Witness) claim that Spurs are prepared to offer €20million for the forward while Fenerbahce are holding out for around €25million to allow him to leave.

While they suggest that Lazio will battle Spurs for Muriqi’s signature, the report claims that the Serie A side are unable to match Tottenham’s transfer budget.

Spurs Web Opinion

Reports from Turkey usually need to be taken with a pinch of salt as the Turkish press can get quite creative with their speculation. However, I am convinced there is some substance to this story as we’ve been linked with Muriqi since the January transfer window and he exactly fits the profile of what we need. Additionally, compared to some of the other options we’ve been linked with, the Albanian will also come much cheaper.
