Report: Spurs and Leeds could look to sign Bundesliga star on a free

The Daily Express have claimed that it is becoming ‘increasingly likely’ that Tottenham Hotspur target Daichi Kamada could be available on a free transfer next summer.

Kamada rose to the limelight with his impressive displays in the Europa League for Eintracht Frankfurt last season and the Japanese international has started the new campaign in impressive form, having notched up six goals and three assists so far (Transfermarkt).

The versatile attacking midfielder, who can also be deployed on either flank, is only contracted until next summer at Deutsche Bank Park.

German publication Kicker reported on Monday that it is ‘anyone’s guess’ if Kamada will sign a new deal at Frankfurt as the Bundesliga club cannot compete with the lucrative offers that the player will receive from other clubs around Europe.

The Express have now revealed that both Spurs and Leeds United showed interest in the 26-year-old during the summer transfer window and were quoted a price of £13m.

The report adds that Kamada is now stalling on signing a new deal at Frankfurt and that the two Premier League clubs could make a ‘decisive move’ for the attacking midfielder either in January or next summer.

Kamada will fit the bill for what Spurs need, should the club decide to loan out Bryan Gil in January. The Frankfurt star would be able to cover for the wide areas and can also be deployed centrally if Conte wishes to use a 3-5-2.

If the Japanese international does not sign a new deal over the coming months, one would assume Frankfurt would prefer to sell him for a cut-price fee in January rather than losing him for free next summer.
