Report: Spurs and Leicester send scouts to watch striker score brace

According to a report in Turkish media outlet Milliyet (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham have commenced their operation to sign Fenerbahçe striker Vedat Muriqi.

Spurs and Leicester City are said to be holding a major interest in Muriqui with the pair reported to have sent scouts to watch the centre forward in action against Genclerbirligi on Friday, along with representatives from Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt in a game in which Muriqi netted two goals.

The Premier League pair were reportedly impressed with the Kosovo international’s display on Friday and it is said that he could be the subject of a bidding war between the two clubs in January.

The report claims that the 25-year-old is aware of interest from both clubs and would welcome a move to the Premier League. However, it is suggested that he could stay at Fenerbahçe for one more season if the Turkish giants manage to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Muriqi is reportedly contracted to Fenerbahçe until June 2023 having only joined fellow Turkish Super Lig side Caykur Rizespor during the summer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

While our squad is fairly well stocked in different positions, one area that is an obvious weakness is a lack of cover for Harry Kane. We could certainly do with bringing in a big target man who can serve as a plan B in games where we aren’t able to play through the opposition lines. Muriqi with his aerial prowess and fine hold up play, certainly fits the bill.
