Report: Spurs and Leicester to go head to head for Serie A winger

According to a report by Italian news outlet Corriere Dello Sport, Leicester City have entered the race for Fiorentina winger Riccardo Sottil and are set to compete with Tottenham for his signature.

The Express reported back in September that Spurs were watching Sottil closely and were considering bidding for him. The 20-year-old impressed during a season-long loan at Serie B outfit Pescara during the last campaign.

The skilful winger has made eight appearances in all competitions for Fiorentina this term and although he is yet to register a goal or an assist to his name, he has put in some eye-catching performances.

Leicester’s scouts were reportedly in attendance to watch the Spurs target in action for Italy Under-21’s against Iceland over the weekend, a game in which Sottil scored the first goal in their 3-0 win in the UEFA European qualifiers that moved them up to second place in Group A.

Spurs Web Opinion

The club already signed two up and coming wide men in Jack Clarke and Ryan Sessegnon over the summer. So, I am not sure I see the value of shelling out money another young winger as we are yet to really see those two given their opportunities this season. I believe addressing the defensive issues has to be the priority in January.
