Report: Spurs and Liverpool among clubs vying for Championship starlet

According to the Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur are said to be among a host of clubs monitoring young Wigan Athletic striker Joe Gelhardt.

The youngster has an impressive record at youth level and has been promoted to the Wigan first team this season.

Despite being just 17 years of age, he has already made six league appearances for the Championship side this campaign, also netting his first senior goal against Hull City (transfermarkt).

Several Premier League clubs have reportedly been impressed by Gelhardt’s displays this season with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea also said to be keen on landing him.

The England U-18 international recently signed a new deal with the Latics but is said to be available for a fee of around £5million.

Meanwhile, Goal.com claim that Gelhardt is a boyhood Liverpool fan and so the Reds could have an advantage over Spurs and the other clubs vying for his signature.

The fact that there seems to be so much interest in him means that Gelhardt price is likely to be higher than the reported £5million. I am personally more excited to see Parrott get his opportunities this season as I believe he has the potential to become a top centre-forwardforward.
