Report: Spurs and Liverpool fight it out for £13m bargain midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur may have lost out to Liverpool in the Champions League final last season, but they may now be looking to get one over on Klopp’s side in the transfer window.

According to the Spanish outlet, Estadio Deportivo, Tottenham and Liverpool are both chasing a star Rennes midfielder, as well as four other clubs.

Benjamin Bourigeaud has appeared 93 times in a Rennes shirt, scoring an impressive 21 goals and setting up a further 19 from a central midfield position.

The 25-year-old is also available at a bargain price, with Rennes said to be demanding just £13.4m for the midfielder this summer.

However, Tottenham may have to act swiftly, as Sevilla have reportedly already submitted a bid of around £10.7 for the star this window.

Tottenham still have a gap in their squad from the sale of Mousa Dembele to the Chinese Super League back in January 2019.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I am a firm believer that Spurs need to invest in squad players as well as first-team stars this summer, and Bourigeaud could come under that category. An experienced and proven player, scoring and assisting goals in a mid-table French side, and for just £13.4m, this could be a bargain.
