Report: Spurs and Liverpool told how much they have to pay for Luis Diaz

Tottenham and Liverpool are reportedly battling it out to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz, according to Calciomercato. 

The 24-year-old has been in scintillating form for the Dragoes this season scoring 15 goals in all competitions, which has helped lift his side to the summit of the Primeira Liga. 

But despite Diaz being under contract at Porto until the end of June 2024, they still face the challenge of keeping hold of their star man with plenty of sides across Europe staking their interest. 

Tottenham are said to be one of the clubs keeping tabs on Diaz, with Antonio Conte’s side reportedly on the lookout for another attacking player to add more depth to the squad. 

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also shortlisted the Colombia international as a potential incoming having briefly lost star wingers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations this month. 

However, both sides have allegedly learned just how much it will take to prise Diaz away from Porto, with Calciomercato claiming a €60 million (£50.7m) price tag has been placed on his head. 

The report states the large valuation has been set in part due to a third-party ownership of the winger’s economic rights. 

Diaz completed a move to Porto for €7 million (£5.8m) in 2019, with the deal only including 80 per cent ownership of his rights.

Diaz has been one of the brightest players in the Portuguese league this season and one of Porto’s most important players, so they will be keen on keeping him. It is only fair that Porto set the asking price that high considering he is still under contract for a little while, but these types of players command high transfer fees.
