Report: Spurs and Man United both interested in 24-year-old Bundesliga star

According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur could be competing with Manchester United for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer this summer.

Laimer has been a key player for Leipzig since his move to the East German club back in 2017 but the midfielder has not been a regular this season, with more than half of his 20 Bundesliga appearances coming from the bench (Transfermakrt).

Bild claim the midfielder’s future is up in the air since his contract at the Red Bull Arena runs out in the summer of 2023.

It is explained that the Austrian international is expected to sit down with Leipzig to discuss his future at the end of this season.

According to the report, Man Utd and Spurs are both monitoring Laimer’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

United’s interim boss Ralf Rangnick is said to be ‘pushing’ the Red Devils’ hierarchy to snap up the 24-year-old, who he worked with at Leipzig.

Meanwhile, it is asserted that Tottenham have been monitoring Laimer since his impressive displays against them in the Champions League round of 16 stage in 2020.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Spurs are monitoring Laimer, I suspect they see him as a squad player to potentially replace Harry Winks should the England star push for a move this summer. I do not see the Austrian being a regular starter for a top-six club in the Premier League.
