Report: Spurs and Man United fighting ‘tooth and nail’ for left-back this summer

According to a report from AS (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are fighting tooth and nail for the services of Watford left-back, Pervis Estupinan.

Estupinan has not played a single game for the Hornets since signing for the club four years ago but his reputation has been rising in Spain thanks to his performances in various La Liga loan spells.

The left-back has been particularly impressive during his loan spell at Osasuna this campaign and reports indicate that several European giants have been put on alert.

Sport reported last month that Tottenham had made an enquiry about the 22-year-old’s availability.

La Razon reported this week that Barcelona were the front runners for the defender’s signature.

However, AS (via Sport Witness) now reveal that Spurs and United are both keen on securing Estupinan’s services. Both clubs have been backed to battle until the end to land the Watford star this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I can see why Jose might be a fan of Estupinan, as not only does he possess the energy to get up and down the pitch and have a fantastic cross on him, but he is also extremely accomplished defensively. However, signing another left-back would be a massive blow to Sessegnon’s prospects of getting into the team next season as I cannot see the youngster playing too often as a left-winger.
