According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are now preparing an offer for Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres.
Alessandro Bastoni is reportedly Tottenham’s number one target for the left centre-back role this summer (Football.London) but the Italian’s agent admitted last week his client will remain at the San Siro (Football Italia).
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this month that Spurs could turn their attentions to Torres if a deal for Bastoni does not prove feasible. The report claimed that the Lilywhites might face competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for the Spain international.
It has also been suggested previously that Antonio Conte’s men could use Giovani Lo Celso as a makeweight in a deal to land Torres from Villarreal, with the La Liga club thought to be keen on snapping up the Spurs midfielder permanently (Sky Italia – 07/06/22 via GIFN).
If Fichajes’s latest update is to be believed, Tottenham and Man Utd are now both readying offers for the Villarreal centre-back. The publication claims that the 25-year-old is also being closely followed by Paris Saint-Germain.

With Josko Gvardiol likely to prove too expensive, I fully expected Spurs to turn their attention to Torres if the Bastoni deal does not go through. One would think that we have an upper hand over Man Utd in the race for the 25-year-old, given that we can offer Champions League football and the fact that Villarreal want Lo Celso.
