Report: Spurs and Man United put on alert after Barcelona make transfer decision

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur and two other Premier League sides have been put on alert after Barcelona decided to put three of their first-team stars up for sale.

Over recent days, it has been reported in the Spanish press (Marca) that Barcelona could be in serious financial trouble over the coming months. This is because they need to pay £85m in instalments for the 49-per-cent sale of Barca studios before the closing of the summer market.

It is explained that the club will thus have ‘very little room in their wage bill’ to make any signings next summer unless they move on some big names.

As a result, it is alleged that the Catalan giants are expected to listen to offers for Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde, with the trio named as the most likely to be sold in the summer.

Tottenham could benefit from Barcelona’s financial woes

TEAMtalk relay this information and add that the development has put Tottenham as well as Manchester United and Newcastle United on alert, with the three Premier League sides sniffing around the trio.

This update comes just two weeks after SPORT (via Forbes) claimed that the Lilywhites would be willing to spend €70m (£60m) to land Raphinha next summer.

There is no doubt that quite a few Premier League sides will be keeping a close eye on Barcelona’s situation as a number of their players could potentially be signed on a discount, particularly closer to the due date of their aforementioned £85m in instalment payment.

We know that Daniel Levy likes to take advantage of those sorts of opportunities to push through deals as he did with the Richarlison and Brennan Johnson transfers.
