Report: Spurs and Man Utd both looking at talented Barcelona youngster

Fichajes state that Tottenham are among the clubs who have expressed an interest in Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati ahead of the summer.

Fati has not quite lived up to his potential at Barca this season, having struggled to establish himself as a regular in Xavi Hernandez’s starting eleven.

Fichajes state that the youngster is not happy at his lack of starts this season and the Catalan giants could thus cash in on the attacker, given their need to raise funds through player sales in order to balance their books.

The report reveals that Tottenham are one of the clubs who are eyeing a move for Fati, with the North London club said to be ‘looking for’ attacking options due to the uncertainty over the future of Harry Kane.

It is alleged that Spurs want to build a ‘base’ of talented young footballs and have identified Fati as someone who can be part of a ‘competitive project for the future’.

The publication does not reveal how much Barcelona are expected to demand the 20-year-old but it is suggested that the Lilywhites might face competition from Manchester United and AC Milan for the youngster.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even considering the financial situation at Barcelona and their need to raise funds, I suspect that they would demand upwards of £60m for Fati, which means that Spurs will likely have to break their transfer record to sign the Spaniard.

I am not convinced it would make sense for the club to invest a significant portion of its transfer budget on the 20-year-old, who has not been able to live up to his billing over the past 12 months.
