Report: Spurs and Man Utd monitoring midfielder ahead of January

According to a report by Goal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both interested in signing FC Rostov midfielder Mathias Normann in the January transfer window.

Normann spent two seasons with Brighton and Hove Albion before moving to Rostov in the January of this year. Since his move to Russia, the attacking midfielder has been one of the standout players in the league.

He even won the Russian Premier League Player of the Month Award for September and has also managed to break into Norway’s national side.

It is suggested that Rostov would demand up to £20 million for Normann if they were to let him leave in January. T

he report claims that Man Utd have an advantage over Spurs in the race for the Norwegian with his compatriot Ole Gunnar Solkskjaer having previously managed him at Molde after they signed him on loan from Brighton.

Sevilla are another club who are said to be tracking Normann’s progress closely.

Spurs Web Opinion

While I have not seen Normann play before, he is described as being a technically gifted and skillful attacking midfielder which makes me doubt the report as Spurs are pretty well stocked in that area. With Lo Celso to come back into the squad, I believe Tottenham will be better off prioritizing the full back areas over attacking midfield even if Eriksen leaves in January.
