Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Sporting over midfielder Manuel Ugarte, according to Portuguese news outlet Jornal de Noticias.
Ugarte impressed during Sporting’s recent 2-0 win over Tottenham in the Champions League and is also said to be attracting interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs will come up against the Uruguayan international again later this month when the North Londoners look to book their place in the next stage of the competition with a victory over the Portuguese side.
Ugarte, 21, is set to be offered new terms which could see him earn £100,000 a week and his new contract will also see his release clause rise from £ 50 million to £70 million (The Sun).

Ugarte is a bright talent, however, if Sporting stick to their guns and demand a £70million fee, it is hard to fathom that Tottenham would be willing to shell out such a high amount on a holding midfielder when they are already well stocked in the position.
