Report: Spurs and West Ham interested in signing out-of-contract Fulham starlet

Tottenham and West Ham are both interested in signing Fulham starlet Ollie O’Neill, according to The Athletic.

The West London side may be celebrating their promotion back into the Premier League, but they could face losing one of their most promising prospects in O’Neill this summer.

The 19-year-old is out of contract this summer and will, therefore, become a free agent unless Fulham can convince him to sign a new deal.

While O’Neill is yet to make his debut for the senior side, he has been training with the first-team regularly of late and made the subs bench for a League Cup match in September.

The report claims that Tottenham and West Ham are both lurking in case O’Neill decides to leave Fulham as a free agent in the coming months.

The youngster has appeared 23 times for the Fulham youth side in Premier League 2 action this season, scoring six goals and recording three assists (TransferMarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion:

There is literally no downside to picking up a youth talent on a free transfer. Yes, Spurs may want to stay away from £10m deals that may backfire in a similar fashion to Jack Clarke, but scooping up O’Neill for free would be a no-brainer.
