Report: Spurs are 90 minutes from setting unwanted Premier League record

A report from talkSPORT has revealed that Tottenham could set a Premier League record by becoming the first team to go three games without a shot on target if they fail to hit the mark against Leeds United after the international break.

Tottenham have struggled going forward this season and have scored just nine goals in 11 Premier League games, which is only better than bottom side Norwich City’s five tallies.

New manager Antonio Conte is the latest figure tasked with turning the club’s form around after Nuno Espirito Santo was booted out of his job after just four months in charge.

The Italian oversaw his first league game at the helm of the Spurs dugout on Sunday against Everton, but only saw his new side come away with a point in a 0-0 stalemate.

Although Spurs were defensively compact and more solid than in previous games, going forward was a different story, as they failed to test Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal.

This was the second league game in a row where Spurs were blunt in front of goal, with their horrid 3-0 defeat against Manchester United also yielding a similar outcome.

However, talkSPORT have revealed that the N17 side could become the holders of an unwanted Premier League record at the conclusion of their next game against Leeds.

If they fail to register an attempt at the Leeds goal on November 21, Spurs could become the first club to go three consecutive games without hitting the target, since records began in 2004.

It will be a record that Conte will want to avoid going down in history, with the club looking to rebound from a mixed season so far.

Spurs’ current streak in the league means they have joined a handful of teams who have endured similar barren spells in front of goal, by going two games without an effort on target.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Conte will not want to let this record happen after the international break, but this should be a good enough fixture for Spurs to have at least a shot on goal.

Leeds have been leaky this season, which we also saw last season and Spurs are in front of their own supporters, so hopefully, we get a decent attacking showing.
