Report: Spurs are ‘closely following’ 55-year-old as potential Paratici replacement

Fichajes have claimed that Tottenham are now ‘closely following’ the future of Getafe’s director of football, Ramon Planes, amidst question marks over Fabio Paratici’s future at the club.

On Tuesday, FIFA accepted the Italian authorities’ request to extend Paratici’s 30-month ban to all leagues around the world.

The 50-year-old’s future at North London is thus thought to be in major doubt, with the club now said to be speaking to their lawyers about their next course of action (The Telegraph).

Tottenham also confirmed yesterday that Paratici had stepped away from his role as managing director of football while they await the findings of his appeal.

COPE reported earlier this week that Planes is one of the options being eyed by Spurs as a replacement for Paratici.

The report asserted that the Lilywhites would not have much difficulty in hiring the Spaniard as Getafe president Angel Torres ‘will not put any impediment’ in place should the 55-year-old decide that he wants the Spurs job.

Tottenham’s interest in Planes has now been backed up by Fichajes, who state that the Getafe director could be tempted if he received an offer from the Premier League club.

The publication adds that the Spaniard is also on the radar of Real Betis but their plans have now ‘suddenly gone awry’ now that Planes is attracting interest from elsewhere.

After the development of the last few days, Tottenham’s priority might have shifted from searching for a new head coach to finding a new director of football.

There is also the possibility that the North London club might want to wait for the verdict of the appeal on April 19 before taking any decision on Paratici’s future.
