Report: Spurs are ‘confident’ about outbidding rivals to sign Premier League star

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are confident that they can raise the required funds to sign Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

Branthwaite has emerged as one of the best young centre-backs in the Premier League this season, with the 21-year-old now looking likely to be part of the England squad for next summer’s Euros.

Unsurprisingly, a whole host of Premier League clubs are thought to be plotting moves for the youngster at the end of the season.

It was reported by The Daily Mail a couple of days ago that Tottenham and Manchester United are currently leading the race for the Toffees star.

The outlet explained that while Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Arsenal have also sought information about Branthwaite, Spurs and the Red Devils have shown the most ‘concerted effort’ in the pursuit so far.

Tottenham confident of winning Jarrad Branthwaite race

Football Insider have revealed that they have heard from a well-placed source that funds ‘will not be an issue’ for Spurs in their pursuit of the Everton man.

The outlet also names Man Utd as one of the leading contenders to sign Branthwaite, stating that the player has been a long-term target for Erik Ten Hag’s men.

However, it is alleged that Tottenham are confident that they have the funds to go toe-to-toe with their Premier League rivals for the defender’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be quite surprised if Tottenham spent more than £50m to sign a centre-back next summer, now that Ange has Romero, Van de Ven and Dragusin at his disposal.

Additionally, Davies also has demonstrated he is quite capable of operating in the heart of defence while Ashley Phillips is showing a lot of promise at Plymouth Argyle.
