Report: Spurs are confident about player signing new contract after recent agent talks

Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are now confident that Son Heung-min will sign a new contract after holding discussions with the forward’s entourage.

Son will enter the final year of his deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June and there have been plenty of reports over the last few weeks about Spurs’ intention to tie him down to a new contract.

The latest such update came from HITC, who claimed last week that the Lilywhites are ready to accelerate efforts to tie down their captain to a new deal.

The report suggested that keeping Son at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is one of the club’s key targets leading up to the summer and asserted that the player is loving life under Postecoglou.

Spurs now confident

Football Insider have now made a similar claim, stating that despite attracting attention from Saudi Arabian clubs, Son is happy at Tottenham and remains keen to prove himself in the Premier League.

The report says that Spurs have already opened talks with the 31-year-old regarding an extension and are now confident that a deal will be agreed.

However, the publication adds that the agreement is not expected to be finalised between the two parties until the summer, with Son eager to focus on having a strong end to the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Son certainly seems to be enjoying his football at the moment and evidently feels extra responsibility as the leader of the side. I do not think tying him down to a new contract will be an issue for the Tottenham hierarchy irrespective of whether we finish in the top four or not.
