Report: Spurs are considering appointing Frenchman as Conte replacement

The Evening Standard have revealed that Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, Christophe Galtier, is on Tottenham’s shortlist to replace Antonio Conte this summer.

The Times’ Gary Jocob told beIN SPORTS last week that after Tottenham’s strategy of appointing proven winners in Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte has failed, the club are now looking for a young, up-and-coming manager, who can build a long-term project at N17.

That information certainly ties in with the names who have been linked with the Spurs hot seat so far, including the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi, Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva, Thomas Frank and others (The Athletic), with Julian Nagelsmann now thought to be the club’s top target (Football Insider).

Some out-of-the-box names such as Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim (Correio da Manha), Burnley’s Vincent Kompany (The Guardian), and Feyenoord’s Arne Slot (The Times) have also been linked with the vacancy.

The Evening Standard have now thrown another name into the hat in the form of Galtier, whose stock has fallen over recent months in light of PSG’s struggles.

I do not think it is fair to judge any manager based on how they have done at PSG as the club has proven to be unmanageable over recent years as the likes of Tuchel and Pochettino found out.

However, Galtier does not seem like a natural fit for the profile of head coach that Spurs are now reportedly after.
