Report: Spurs are expected to demand £20m to sell 26-year-old defender

TEAMtalk report that Tottenham Hotspur are expected to put Joe Rodon up for sale next summer.

Rodon’s career has stagnated over the last three years but the centre-back appears to be getting it back on track at Leeds United.

The on-loan Tottenham man has established himself as a mainstay in Daniel Farke’s backline and has received plenty of praise from the German coach for his performances (Yorkshire Evening Post).

Tottenham want to earn a profit on Joe Rodon

Ange Postecoglou currently has a defensive crisis on his hands and could arguably make do with Rodon’s services.

However, TEAMtalk explain that there is no break clause in the loan deal that would allow Tottenham to bring the defender back to the club.

The outlet states that while Leeds do not have the option to buy the centre-back permanently, they would be open to negotiating such a deal with Spurs if the opportunity arises.

The Welshman will only have one year left on his contract at Tottenham when his loan spell at Elland Road ends, and it suggested that the Lilywhite are expected to demand around £20m for him next summer.

Finally, the publication adds that it would be a ‘no-brainer’ for Leeds to sign the former Swansea man if he helps them win promotion to the Premier League.

Even if Leeds do not bounce straight back up, Rodon would undoubtedly attract plenty of interest from top-flight clubs next summer if he continues performing at the level that he is currently.
