Report: Spurs are finding Brennan Johnson talks ‘hugely frustrating’ with Forest

The Independent have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest are still far apart in their respective valuations of Brennan Johnson.

The speculation linking Johnson with a move to Spurs has intensified recently, with Football.London’s Alasdair Gold even confidently claiming at the start of this week that he expects the Lilywhites to make a move for the versatile attacker before the transfer window slams shut.

The Daily Mail subsequently revealed a couple of days ago that while Chelsea are also eying the Wales international, the player prefers to join Tottenham over the Blues as he is prioritising regular game time at his next club.

Spurs still a long way off deal for Brennan Johnson

However, The Independent have now stated that Spurs are still quite a way off striking a deal for Johnson, with Forest not willing to lower their £40m asking price for the 22-year-old.

The publication asserts that Ange Postecoglou is ‘hugely keen’ on securing the youngster’s services as the Australian values his versatility and the pace he would offer upfront.

The report claims that agreeing on personal terms with Johnson is not expected to be an issue for Tottenham but the North London side are allegedly finding their negotiations with Forest to be ‘hugely frustrating’.

Given how inflated the market is at the moment, it comes as no surprise that Forest are holding out for £40m for a player of Johnson’s potential. Spurs will perhaps look to include one of their unwanted players in the deal to try and bring down the price.
