Football Insider report that Tottenham Hotspur are at the front of the queue to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

It emerged last week that Gibbs-White might be on his way out of the City Ground in the summer, owing to Forest’s financial issues.

The Midlands club have been hit with a four-point deduction for breaching the Profit and Sustainability Rules and it was reported by talkSPORT last Thursday that they might also offload some players this summer to avoid further sanctions.

The outlet suggested that they could thus cash in on Gibbs-White and that Tottenham are keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder’s situation.

Over the last few days, some reports have suggested that Spurs’ North London rivals are also circling over the midfielder, with the Gunners alleged to be keen on securing the player (The Sun).

Tottenham lead the race for Morgan Gibbs-White

However, Football Insider have now said that Spurs are ‘in pole position’ to win the race for Gibbs-White this summer.

The outlet says that Tottenham have been watching the midfielder for close to two years and that the club’s talent spotters have been quite impressed with the Englishman.

It is alleged that Gibbs-White is seen as an ideal fit for Tottenham’s style and is described as an ‘Ange Postecoglou player’, with many at the club expecting him to thrive in the Australian coach’s system.

It is quite clear that Gallagher is Postecoglou’s top target, with Gibbs-White seemingly being identified as an alternative to the England international.

Both Forest and Chelsea have to raise funds by June 30 to avoid further sanctions, which means that Spurs have an opportunity to sign one of the two players quite early in the transfer window.
