Report: Spurs are in pole position to sign £87m prime target

Tottenham Hotspur may have reached the Champions League final this season, but they still have a sizeable Mousa Dembele shaped hole in their midfield.

Despite not signing any new players in the last 15 months, Tottenham took the decision to sell Dembele in the January window, rather than letting him leave on a free in the summer.

Injuries to Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Victor Wanyama, and Harry Winks through different patches 2019 have put a significant strain on the Spurs engine room.

Surely central midfield will be a position in which Pochettino and Levy will look to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

Yesterday, L’Equipe reported that Tottenham have made a significant contract offer to apparent target Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs have been linked with the French midfielder all throughout this current campaign (Daily Star).

The French midfield powerhouse has been in superb form this season, showcasing his strength, speed, and power in the French League, as well as the Champions League.

However, a new report will only add fuel to the Spurs-Ndombele rumours, as Le 10 claim Spurs are leading the race for the player ahead of PSG and Juventus.

Ndombele has previously been valued at £87m by L’Equipe, a value more than double Tottenham’s current record signing.

Le 10 add that Ndombele apparently has the power to choose exactly which club he transfers to this summer. Could a Champions League final, guaranteed first team football and a new stadium be enough to draw him to North London?

Spurs Web Opinion:

I have said for a long time that Tanguy Ndombele is my top transfer target for Tottenham this summer. I believe he holds every single thing Spurs need most at the moment, including strength, tough tackling, high fitness, ball carrying skills, power, and drive. Everything Spurs lost when selling Dembele is encapsulated in this 22-year-old Frenchman and more. Tottenham should move heaven and earth to secure his signature, no matter the price.
