Report: Spurs are interested in signing Barcelona attacker in January

Football Transfers have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold a ‘concrete interest’ in Barcelona winger Raphinha in January.

Raphinha made his name in the Premier League at Leeds United before making a big-money switch to Barcelona 18 months ago but the winger has failed to live up to expectations at Camp Nou.

The Brazilian has only scored twice across 11 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League this season (Transfermarkt).

Spurs are interested in Barcelona’s Raphinha

Football Transfers have now claimed that Tottenham are ready to offer Raphinha a route back to English football in January.

The report states that Barcelona had valued the winger at €100m (£87.6m) in the summer but have now dropped their valuation to €70m (£61.3m).

This is thought to have piqued Spurs’ interest, with the Lilywhites said to be on the lookout for a wide player.

Curiously, the publication suggests that Barca could also propose a swap deal between Raphinha and Cristian Romero, with the Catalan club being admirers of the Argentine centre-back.

Tottenham would certainly not entertain any offers for Romero but I can see this Raphinha rumour having some legs. We know that Spurs were eyeing the Brazilian before his switch to Nou Camp and the 26-year-old has the attributes to thrive in Postecoglou’s system.
