Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen on signing Levi Colwill in the summer, in what would be a shock move between two London rivals.
Colwill is a product of the Chelsea academy and, having come through the ranks at the West London club, has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in the squad.
He has never played for the Chelsea first team as of yet. However, Colwill has impressed many during his loan spell at fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion this year.
The 20-year-old defender has made 15 appearances for the Seagulls in all competitions, as well as turning out for their development side twice, where he has provided one assist (Transfermarkt).
Colwill is due to return to Chelsea at the end of the season, but his future is unclear. With a new permanent manager set to take over at Stamford Bridge in the summer, it’s anyone’s guess as to which players will or will not be deemed valuable.
Now, according to a report in The Sun, Spurs would be keen to take Colwill off their rivals’ hands in the summer.
It is suggested that Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly could be “forced to sell some of his homegrown stars.” According to the report, Colwill would have “plenty of suitors” should he and the club choose to part ways.
However, at this stage, it is thought Chelsea have “no intention” of letting the highly-rated centre-back leave.
Spurs Web Opinion
I really like Levi Colwill and he’s definitely a player I would be happy to see make the move from West to North London.
He’s adapted well to the Premier League and would be a great talent to reinforce our defence with.
However, I can’t see it happening unfortunately, due to the rivalry between the two clubs, but you never know.
