Report: Spurs are keen to sign Spanish star but face competition from Real Madrid and Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, but will face competition from Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Chelsea for the highly-rated Spanish star.

It is well-known that Spurs are in the market for an attacker this summer, and Ange Postecoglou has made no secret of the fact that he likes versatile players who can fill a number of roles.

The likes of Heung-min Son, Brennan Johnson, Richarlison, and Timo Werner have all taken on wide roles and central attacking roles this season already.

The latter is currently on loan at Tottenham from RB Leipzig, and may well end up making his stay in North London a permanent one.

Spurs are in the running to sign Dani Olmo

However, one of his Leipzig teammates could factor into this decision, with Spurs thought to be keen on Dani Olmo. According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are one of a handful of top clubs who are “maintaining a watching brief” on the 25-year-old with a view to a summer transfer.

Olmo has a release clause that activates this summer worth a reported £52m. The attacker’s displays this season have seen him “draw in scouts” from many of the “elite clubs” across Europe, as he has seven goals and four assists to his name despite an injury-ravaged campaign (Transfermarkt).

Manchester City and Chelsea are known to be monitoring Olmo, while Real Madrid and Manchester United are also keen.

Olmo signed a new contract at Leipzig last summer, but the release clause could well lead to big clubs snatching him away at the end of this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Dani Olmo is a class act, who can be so dangerous and his versatility makes him a very attractive option for Spurs. £52m is a lot of money, and may be too much for Spurs to stomach this summer, but he strikes me as the kind of player who could adapt to the Premier League with ease and offer so much for Postecoglou’s system.
