Report: Spurs are leading Arsenal in the race for West Ham midfielder

According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur have now emerged as the front-runners to sign West Ham United starlet Daniel Rigge this summer.

Tottenham will lock horns against Arsenal this Sunday in what is one of the most defining North London Derbies in memory, with the Gunners needing a win to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

It turns out that the two clubs will also be battling each other off the pitch this summer, with Rigge alleged to have emerged as a target for both sides.

ESPN reveal that the 18-year-old, who signed his first professional contract with West Ham last November, is on the radar of a number of Premier League sides.

Apart from the two North London clubs, Manchester United have also been named as one of the sides who are tracking the development of the young attacking midfielder.

The report adds that as things stand, Spurs are at the front of the queue to land the teenager, who has scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 19 Under-18 Premier League matches this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham are quite an attractive destination for young, up-and-coming players at the moment, given that Postecoglou has shown his willingness to trust inexperienced players. However, I am not sure if West Ham would be particularly keen to sell one of their best young talents to us.
