Report: Spurs are looking at Portuguese striker as potential Kane replacement

According to reports out of Italy, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Udinese striker Beto as a potential replacement for Harry Kane if he leaves the club this summer, but they will face competition for his signature.

Harry Kane may be a Spurs legend at this point, but there are major doubts over how long he will remain at the club.

With less than 12 months remaining on his current contract, there is a chance the 29-year-old will make a move this summer, or leave for free next year.

German giants Bayern Munich are circling Kane with a view to arranging a transfer this summer. It is believed the Bundesliga side are preparing a new offer of around £80m for the England captain (Daily Mirror).

If Kane were to leave this year, Tottenham would face a mammoth task in replacing him. Despite the challenge, it appears the North London side are laying the foundations and scouting out potential new strikers.

Beto is a wanted man in North London

If Gianluca Di Marzio journalist Nathan Gissing is to be believed, Tottenham are looking at Udinese attacker Beto as someone they could sign this summer to fill the void left by Kane.

Gissing tweeted: “Understand Udinese striker Beto has interest from several clubs including Juventus, Fulham and Tottenham, who is expected to leave this summer. Napoli have also made two offers to date. Udinese want €35 million (£30m).”

The 25-year-old bagged ten goals for Udinese last season in Serie A, along with one assist (Transfermarkt).

Spurs Web Opinion

Beto is a decent player but I just can’t see his goalscoring ability being at the kind of level we need if he is to replace Harry Kane.

Ten goals in Serie A is not to be sniffed at, but it’s highly unlikely that would translate to anything like the kind of numbers needed to lead the line in the Premier League.
