Report: Spurs are not expected to sign any big-name players in January

The Telegraph’s Sam Dean has now stated that Tottenham fans should not be expecting any big-name players to arrive through the door during the January transfer window.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold revealed last week that Spurs will prioritise adding another attacking player and a right wing-back to the squad in January. The journalist explained that the club will focus on adding quality to the squad during this month while maintaining the current size of their squad.

He also revealed that Fabio Paratici is looking at both permanent and loan options and that the Spurs managing director is intent on making ‘readymade’ signings as per Antonio Conte’s request.

Subsequently, the Spurs head coach said in an interview to Sky Sports on Friday that he is willing to accept the club’s vision of signing up-and-coming players rather than experienced ones.

Dean has now said that while the Tottenham hierarchy are looking to invest in January, they are only likely to sign young players with potential rather than any ‘big, established name’.

The journalist also backs up the Lilywhites’ interest in Pedro Porro and suggests that the club might also look to sign a creative midfielder.

We do not necessarily need experienced players to improve our squad, with Porro being a good example of a young player who would add a lot. The likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Cristian Romero were not experienced when they arrived through the door but they both turned out to be brilliant signings.
