Report: Spurs are offering ‘increasingly strong competition’ for striker target

TuttoMerctoWeb have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are not expected to allow AC Milan to have a free run on Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy.

The speculation linking Guirassy with a move to Spurs continues to intensify as we head closer to the January transfer window.

Last week, we relayed a report from The Sun which claimed that even though Manchester United had come forward to express an interest in the 27-year-old, who has a release clause of £15m in his contract, he prefers to join Spurs over the Red Devils.

Over the past few days, Italian outlets have continued to talk up Milan’s interest in the Guinea international and TMW have become the latest publication to do just that.

Strong Spurs competition for Serhou Guirassy

The report says that the Rossoneri ‘intend to try to buy him’ regardless of the fact that Guirassy will be away at the African Cup of Nations next month.

However, it is explained that the Serie A side face ‘increasingly strong competition’ from both Spurs and Man Utd for the prolific centre-forward.

The publication adds that ‘the charm of the Milanese club remains intact’ for Guirassy and Stefano Pioli’s side intend to ‘try all the way’ to secure the Stuttgart star’s services.

Spurs Web Opinion

The likes of Alasdair Gold, Charlie Eccleshare and Dan Kilpatrick have not really suggested that Guirassy is at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist. In fact, the general consensus among those journalists is that Postecoglou wants to sign a versatile forward in January rather than a number nine.
