Report: Spurs are ‘on the prowl’ for midfield target but face ‘stiff competition’

The print edition of Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will face plenty of competition from Barcelona as well as from several of their Premier League rivals for RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo.

Olmo has been backed to leave the Red Bull Arena this summer and various outlets have suggested recently that Tottenham are one of the clubs watching the attacking midfielder’s situation.

The latest such report came from Sport BILD a couple of days ago, with the report making it clear that even though Spurs and Barca have expressed interest in the Spaniard, the player might wait until after the Euros to make a decision on his future.

RB Leipzig

Competition is intensifying for Dani Olmo

Sport have now covered Barca’s pursuit of Olmo, stating that Xavi Hernandez would love to bring the La Masia graduate back to the club.

However, it is pointed out that Leipzig are demanding that the 26-year-old’s €60m (£51.5m) release clause be met, which is ‘almost impossible’ for the Catalan club.

It is revealed that Barca also face ‘stiff competition’ from the Premier League for Olmo, with Tottenham and other English sides ‘on the prowl’ for the attacker.

Apart from the Lilywhites, the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are also named as contenders for the Leipzig star.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham were never going to have a free run at Olmo. While I was initially sceptical about whether Spurs would spend such a big fee on an attacking midfielder, following Maddison’s recent struggles, Ange might feel that the England international needs stiff competition for his place in the side.
