Report: Spurs are one of four PL clubs interested in England Under-21 star

The Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill.

It has been widely documented over the last couple of weeks that Spurs are now prioritising a move for a left-sided centre-back, with the club seemingly making advances on a deal for Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven.

In fact, Football Insider claimed on Thursday that the Dutchman has already agreed on a five-year deal with the North London club but the report added that the Premier League side and the German club are yet to agree on a transfer fee.

The publication added that Tottenham remain alert to other left centre-back options if a deal for the Netherlands international does not materialise.

Colwill is one of the options on Spurs’ radar

Kinsella has now taken to social media to reveal that Colwill is one of the players that Tottenham could turn their attention to if their pursuit of Van de Ven collapses.

The journalist explained that the centre-back, who was one of the stars of the Young Lions’ triumphant European Under-21 Championship campaign, is also wanted by Manchester City, Brighton and Liverpool.

However, Kinsella added that the Blues do not wish to let the 20-year-old leave and plan on offering him a new contract when he returns for pre-season training next week.

It is understandably why Colwill is highly sought after as left-footed centre-backs are hard to come by, especially homegrown ones, and the Chelsea academy starlet looks like he has a big future in the game.

However, he is the sort of player Pochettino would love working with, which is why I expect the West London club to fight tooth and nail to hang on to him.
