Report: Spurs are one of several clubs looking at Championship midfielder

TEAMtalk have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in January.

Ndidi was seen by many as being among the best number sixes in the Premier League just a couple of years ago but his stock has fallen considerably since then, with the midfielder being one of many Leicester stars who underperformed last season.

However, the Nigerian now looks back to his old self and has dominated the Championship so far this season, with his displays in the middle of the park alongside former Spurs midfielder Harry Winks being one of the main reasons why the Foxes are sitting at the top of the table.

Could Tottenham move for Wilfried Ndidi?

With Ndidi’s contract at the King Power Stadium running out next summer, it is explained that several top-flight clubs are eying a move for the player in January.

Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Brentford are said to be considering a January approach while the midfielder is also alleged to be on the radars of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Lyon and Monaco.

TEAMtalk state that Enzo Maresca is desperate to keep hold of Ndidi and that Leicester have been working hard to tie the 26-year-old down to a new contract but there has been no breakthrough in the talks so far.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think we should read too much into Ndidi’s struggles last season as something was clearly very wrong at Leicester, with a number of their stars underperforming. The 26-year-old would be a serviceable replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg if the Dane leaves in January.
